Learn Spanish Online: Questions & Answers

Any questions? Feel free to contact us or visit our question and answer section below, where we've posted the most common questions...

Are there any additional costs besides the course fee? -POSTED BY: Deborah-

No. You only pay a single fee for your online class. The only other additional cost you might have is the cost to connect to the Internet, but that depends on your ISP…<<< Back

I'm currently studying Spanish with the help of interactive CD-ROMs and interactive online courses. Is an online class useful for me? -POSTED BY: Danny-

Certainly. These learning resources are excellent, but you still need the human interaction of a professional teacher who can answer your questions immediately, be they about your pronunciation or the right use of the words. <<< Back

Why do you only offer 1 free online class and not a complete course? Some other websites and schools offer online Spanish courses totally for free… -POSTED BY: Ron-

Organizing online courses is very expensive. Besides the infrastructure of PC's, servers, communication costs, etc., your instructors are, without exception, highly trained professionals. They've invested a lot of time and money in their education. Additionally, Accelerated Spanish® spends several thousand dollars a year in up-dated teacher training. If we didn't charge you for online lessons, we wouldn't have the financial resources required to maintain our high quality. Also, please take into account, no school will offer 'free' courses just for the fun of it. If a school (or a company) offers something for free, it's because they expect to make money in another way. In the case of a school offering you a free online course, I think they hope to lure you into attending a (paid) course at their headquarters. In marketing terms this is called a "teaser".<<< Back

How can I make sure AcceleratedSpanish.com® is a reliable company? -POSTED BY: Greet S.-

We are in partnership with Anders Languages®, a prestigious language school with more than 35 years in the business of teaching Spanish. Yet another guarantee is the fact that the payments by credit cards are processed by Checkout Inc, a company who thoroughly checked us out before they gave us the OK to accept credit card payments. <<< Back

How long does it take to learn the language? -POSTED BY: Elizabeth.-

There are several variables; age, motivation, knowledge of other languages,… But, on average, you need 60 hours of course work to get to the next level. AcceleratedSpanish.com´s program is divided into 5 levels… package, combining online courses with a residential course at Anders Languages. During your residential course, you will be totally immersed in the Spanish language and culture. Participants in a residential course are immersed in one-on-one Spanish instruction 12 hours a day. On top of that, they must speak it during breaks, meals, and in evening cultural activities with the Anders team and the owners of the residence. <<< Back

What happens if I can't attend a online class due to technical problems (no Internet access, computer crash,…) -POSTED BY: Joyce.-

We are aware that the world on the Internet isn't perfect :-)  In case you can't attend a course due to technical problems, please let us know immediately (by email, fax or phone) and your online course will be rescheduled without any additional cost. <<< Back

If I have a passive knowledge of the language, is a online course recommended? -POSTED BY: John.-

Sure! Not only recommended, it's the best way to brush up on your knowledge…<<< Back

Can I work on special topics such as grammar or medical vocabulary? -POSTED BY: Lucy.-

I'm studying for a exam. Would it be helpful to attend a online course to prepare myself? -POSTED BY: Karen.-

If I don't have a PC camera, can I still participate to an online language course? -POSTED BY: Mayra.-

Yes, although we recommend buying one. They aren't expensive and are very beneficial for your course.<<< Back

What are the technical requirements to attend an online course? -POSTED BY: Adriana.-

  • A sound-card, and a headphone with an attached microphone (speakers & microphone aren't as good - a headset is much better!)

  • Minimum 90MHz processor
